PuraM wastewater treatment system
Overview
Available in a range of mobile prefabricated carbon steel, or stainless steel tank configurations capable of treating flows from 5,000 to 100,000 gallons per day, or in concrete tanks for applications up to 500,000 gallons per day, the PuraM® membrane bioreactor for wastewater treatment and wastewater reuse features significant improvements over comparable wastewater treatment and wastewater reuse systems for small flow applications using an enhanced air scour flat plate design.
The PuraM wastewater treatment and wastewater reuse system uses ultrafiltration membrane technology to achieve high quality effluent that meets wastewater reuse and stringent total nitrogen standards within a greatly reduced overall footprint.
PuraM is designed specifically for the decentralized / municipal, community and commercial markets that require greater reliability, reduced operational input through extended periods between chemical cleans, ease of maintenance, and less complexity than other wastewater treatment and wastewater reuse systems by eliminating back pulsing, onsite chemicals and permeate pumps.
Wastewater treatment and wastewater reuse systems can be located above ground or in-ground with a range of screening and pumping packages. Add-on packages for phosphorous and/or enhanced nitrogen removal are available. Arrangements can be made to rent or lease a PuraM wastewater treatment and wastewater reuse systems.
How it works
- The biological process removes constituents such as BOD and nitrogen, while the membranes, submerged in the biological reactor, provide a physical barrier that rejects pathogens and other suspended solids. This process operates at reduced reactor volumes with mixed-liquor suspended-solids values up to 12,000 mg/l.
- The nature of the activated sludge floc, combined with continuous air scouring by a specially designed aeration grid, ensures consistently high removal efficiency without membrane fouling.
- Nitrification is facilitated by the long sludge age while denitrification can be incorporated as part of Anua’s MBR designs, with nitrogen effluent levels of 10 mg/l or 5 mg/l TN depending upon permit or client requirements.
